How to Attract Top Worldwide Talent to Your Branding / Web Design Agency

If you’re a branding and web design development agency–even if you’re just starting out as a freelancer and looking to make your first hire–here’s how you can attract top-level talent. Whether they’re designers, developers, account executives, ops managers, here’s how to attract solid talent into your agency and get them rocking with you. Let’s dive in!

Here’s a few ways to attract top talent.

1. Pay Them More

I mean, that’s the simplest way to put it. We’re a worldwide agency, so we work with people from all over the world. Whatever the average price or cost to hire someone is in a specific area, pay 10-30 percent more than what they would make.

Also offer incentives for them to grow and develop in your agency. You can easily find this out by searching, for example, “Average UI/UX salary in California,” right? I’m using a very extreme example of this–$54-130K, that’s in cap.

If you’re using offshore team members you can say, in Mexico, or South America, or wherever you find some really great talent all over the world, and just do a Google search. So by doing that, you can look at what the average salary is and then be ready and willing to pay more.

Folks will go out of their way to help and make sure they’re working exclusively with you–and if you’re hiring them on an independent contractor basis, it works out well for them, because now they have a solid agency that they can get work from on a consistent basis.

2. Showcase Your Work

Whether it’s on your personal website, Dribble, or third-party platforms, you wanna be showing all the work that you’re doing as an agency owner, because that’s going to attract people.

I get leads all the time from folks that say, “Hey, I love your work, we’d love to work with you. Main reason being is we saw the projects that you’ve done for X, Y, and Z, and we love the work that you did, and so we wanna be able to work with you and your team to build our skill set.”

A lot of times, they might come in with maybe like a mid-level skill set, but they want to learn, adapt, and be able to grow with you and your agency, so it’s always great to showcase your work on as many platforms as possible so that you can get that work out to as many people.

So one, pay them more. Two, create really dope work.

3. Create Great Content

Just create really great content that you can share with folks. So as you know, we have a Youtube channel, we try to post as consistently as possible. We get people contacting us on Youtube, asking if they can work, or collaborate, or hiring as well.

So if you want, create a career page on your website that showcases that. We like to make it really easy for people to find our content and we try to be as transparent as possible in the content that we create for folks.

It’s one, pay them more; two, share your work everywhere you can; three, make sure you’re creating content like this, showcasing your process and your agency, and how you work.
